Agronomic Guide for Super Yali onion (improved)

1. Climate & Soil

• Prefers cool to warm temperatures (13–30°C)

• Grows well in loamy, well-drained soils with pH 6.0–6.8

• Avoid waterlogging — causes rotting and fungal issues

2. Nursery & Transplanting

• Raise seedlings for 45–50 days before transplanting

• Spacing: 30 cm between rows × 10 cm between plants

• Apply well-decomposed manure (8–10 tons/acre) at land preparation

3. Fertilization

• Basal: DAP 100 kg/acre at transplanting

• Top dress: CAN or Urea 50 kg/acre at 3–4 weeks after transplanting

• Foliar feeding: Use high N during vegetative, then high K formulations at bulb formation

• Always include a sticker in foliar sprays

4. Irrigation

• Maintain consistent moisture during growth

• Reduce watering 2–3 weeks before harvest to harden bulbs and improve storage

5. Disease & Pest Management

• Common diseases: Downy mildew, purple blotch

  • Control: Mancozeb, Difenoconazole, or Azoxystrobin-based fungicides
